Press quotes about Edgar Prais
“Support tonight comes firstly from hometown boys Edgar Prais who are celebrating tonight the anniversary of their first ever gig by screaming at the top of their voices over a pleasant glam number entitled ‘Sloppy Drunk Boys’. There’s nothing sloppy about their performance though - there’s a tightness that belies their time together, made all the more impressive by the way they thrash around the stage, keeping perfect time at all times. They finish by playing two disco-stompers to a crowd that has octupled in size, the last of which leads one happy lady to remark “that was fucking classic!” She’s not wrong.”
Culture Deluxe live review - Drummonds, Aberdeen, 25th February 2007 supporting The Twang
“Casting my net slightly further north, to the sunny climes of Aberdeen, I just got a demo through from three guys calling themselves Edgar Prais. If Modest Mouse were jamming with Teenage Fanclub in Rivers Cuomo’s basement, the results would bear some similarity to the punchy, crunchy pop these tykes make. I was so excited by the demo, I jumped on a flight to see them supporting our boys The Twang. They didn’t disappoint. Seriously, they’re one of the most energetic new bands in the UK.”
Paul Harris, A&R manager @ B-Unique Records, talking in NME about his unsigned faves of the moment
A crowd of maybe ten or twenty people were there at quarter to nine to greet Aberdeen trio The Edgar Prais [sic]. Sweat was dripping off enthusiastic front man Oscar Montague after the first couple of tunes, barely stopping to tune his guitar before nodding to drummer Jim Casey to kick off another fast-paced indie anthem.
I was pretty disappointed with their tracks on MySpace.com though. On stage, The Edgar Prais [sic] sound great and their infectious melodies and guitar riffs stick in your head. The demo tracks they have on MySpace lack the boisterous edge and attitude that they give off in front of an audience.
ICScotland review - King Tut’s, Glasgow, 2nd June 2007 supporting The Noisettes
Freakish Aberdeen-based trio, mixing general shouty calamity with an alt rock guitar sound à la Modest Mouse.
Brilliant, boisterous Aberdeen trio who do jerky, shouty indie-pop to perfection on Sloppy Drunk Boys. Could easily have The View’s terrace appeal.
